CHRISTADELPHIAN WORKS

OF PARTICULAR INTEREST TO SISTERS

This listing is directed at identifying books by Christadelphian authors (many of which are sisters) with subjects that appeal to the emotions of a sister in Christ and our high calling. Topics include our roles in the Ecclesia and family, as well as examples of women/sisters from Biblical times. Other topics range from poetry to recipes.

We are in no way suggesting that sisters limit their study only to the reading of works directed toward these categories; but rather, highly encourage the continuous reading and study of the works by our pioneer brethren. These additional books should be used as supplements to help encourage and strengthen us as sisters, wives and mothers through our continuous struggle against the flesh and in our walk toward that glorious Kingdom age to come!

"She openeth her mouth with wisdom;

and in her tongue is the law of kindness. .

A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised."

(Proverbs 31:26, 30)

CHRISTADELPHIAN MUSIC

In these latter days, we have too much "media" influencing our lives which interferes and chokes our spiritual growth; such as, novels, TV, movies, worldly music, worldly magazines, video games, and even newspapers, etc. We would be surprised what a profound difference it would make in our meditation and "thinking on these things" if we would say "no" to some or all of these mental invaders and time robbers. Give it a try. See what a big difference it makes to just turn off the radio in our cars. This one little step will give us a chance to think. Selah.

These selections of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs are excellent alternatives to today's media onslaught. They will inspire and edify our minds to think on whatsoever things are true and worthy of praise.

A lovely collection of beloved hymns and anthems from the "Israel Section" of the "old" Christadelphian Hymn Book.

This well done choral presentation was recorded at the Adelaide (Halifax Street) Ecclesial Hall by a small group of Brethren and Sisters in the Adelaide area, accompanied by a wonderful pipe organ.

My personal favorites include:

*Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

*Cry Out and Shout! (The Choir and the Organ are outstanding!)

*Daughter of Zion (My husband, Bro. Mike's, favorite hymn. I cannot listen to this hymn without hearing his rich rousing voice singing straight from his heart!)

*Oh! Why should Israel's Son's Once Blest.

*Come Thou Glorious Day of Promise!

These last two vintage hymns were somehow (??) left out of the "new" 1964 hymn book. What a pity! Our Ecclesia loves them as much as the brethren did over a hundred years ago.

This CD comes with a beautifully illustrated booklet that includes the words to these songs, which makes singing along irresistible!

BEAUTIFUL!

This CD has been recorded by some very talented brothers and sisters. There are 11 singers in all whose voices are absolutely beautiful and the blend of the close harmony is wonderful. Some of the songs are accompanied by top quality piano, flute, violins, cello, and viola.

Among the thirteen song selections are the comforting anthem "Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord," the moving hymn "Shall We Behold The Promised Land" (written by Bro. I. Collyer), and the beautiful song "Love is Patient" (written by Sis. Julie Anderson).

Another beautiful and inspiring song collection!

This CD contains 22 beautiful songs, such as "Hannah's Song" by our talented Sis. Julie Anderson, and favorite hymns such as "Lead Me Lord", "The Day Thou Giveth", "Loved of God", and "Soldiers of Christ".

This CD, like "Our Blessed Hope" has outstanding instrumental accompaniment. The harmony, unity and enthusiasm of the voices are absolutely beautiful!

Encouraging spiritual music!

This CD is beautifully produced by the British Columbia Christadelphian Youth Choir of Canada. The choir and soloists are exceptional. The quality is outstanding. There are 13 songs including "The Time of Singing" written by Sis. Julie Anderson (which is especially moving), "Thanks Be to Thee" by Handel, "Be Strong in the Lord", and "Shalom Chaverim".

"The net proceeds from the sale of this disc will support the work of the Christadelphian Bible Mission."

These songs are a treasure of moving and beautiful original music set to lyrics that are rich with our precious doctrines and hope in Christ Jesus.

Our personal favorites are "Become as One of These", "Christ Our King is Coming", and "Have Courage Fight the Battle".

The music and full scores are professionally typeset. Many songs are written in easier keys and not so complicated that musicians with medium experience can manage to play and enjoy them. I would even suggest that older children could learn some of these songs as musical recital pieces.
