PECAN BARS

CRUST:

1 pkg. cream cheese, softened

3/4 cup softened butter

1 cup sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

2 1/4 cups flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

 

FILLING:

2 eggs

1/4 cup melted butter

1 cup brown sugar

2/3 cup corn syrup

1 tsp. vanilla

3 cups chopped pecans (or 1/2 pecans and 1/2 almonds)

 

Beat cream cheese, butter, sugar and vanilla together. Add flour and baking soda - mix. Press into bottom of ungreased 9" x 13" pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Combine eggs, melted butter, sugar, syrup and vanilla in large bowl. Stir in nuts. Spread over warm crust - bake 20-25 minutes longer.
