TOFFEE "STUFF"

2 1/3 cups all purpose flour

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

3/4 cup butter/margarine

1 egg, slightly beaten

2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts, optional

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

1 3/4 cups (10 oz.) toffee bits

 

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13" x 9" x 2" pan. In large bowl, stir flour and brown sugar, cut in butter until crumbly. Add egg and mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and all the nuts. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of this mixture. Press remaining mixture into bottom of prepared pan. Bake 10 minutes. Pour milk over hot crust. Top with 1 1/2 cups toffee bits.

Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips over top. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining toffee bits. Cool completely.
